The Scottish Green List : Seedbom & Glasgow Guerrilla Gardeners

Unknown to us, Seedbom & Glasgow Guerrialla Gardeners were entered into a Scotland wide competition:

The Scottish Sustainable Development Forum wanted to celebrate the people making Scotland more sustainable. They invited nominations for inspirational individuals from all parts of Scottish Society. People working in all areas from housing, health, and education to energy, transport and waste management have been nominated and the juding panel considered:

  • What has changed as a result of the nominee’s actions?
  • Is there a lasting legacy?
  • How could others learn from the efforts?

Not only did we reach the top 5, it was decided buy the judging panel and The Scotsman to give us First place. Yes First Place. We were up against tough competition, projects that have been running for a number of years. I don’t think it has quite sunk in yet as to the impact of this but more than ever we are wanting to carry on our work in and around Glasgow.

A big Thank You to whomever entered our names into the competition and also a ‘shout out’ to the others who were in the Top 5:

SEEDBOM product launch event

This is an invite to all those budding Guerrilla Gardeners out there who may be interested in something that’s a little bit different.

Kabloom invites you to the SEEDBOM product launch evening taking place at 7pm on Fri the 28th of August at the CCA: Centre for Contemporary Art, 350 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow.

SEEDBOM is a new and exciting product designed and made by Darren Wilson, a design graduate from Grays School of Art in Aberdeen. Darren runs a small business based in the southside of Glasgow called Kabloom and is currently stocking a selection of retailers across Glasgow and Edinburgh with this innovative and unique product.

SEEDBOMs are the friendly bombs that grow! Little bombs with the potential to grow flowers where there are none, to enhance your environment with areas of beauty and colour in the form of flowers. SEEDBOMs are Handmade from a special mixture of eco-friendly, locally sourced and recycled materials such as used egg boxes, shredded office paper and the occasional tea bag, and include organic compost, organic fertiliser and wildflower seeds; SEEDBOMs contain everything you need to start growing flowers practically anywhere. They are based on the idea of interaction with your environment, joining forces with nature and brightening up dull and lifeless places in your local area. Throw SEEDBOMs into derelict land, neglected spaces or even your neighbour?s messy garden and watch them grow!

This FREE event will be a chance for anyone interested in guerrilla gardening and seedbombing to find out more about SEEDBOM?, take away a free sample, try their hand at making seedbombs and take part in seedbombing a derelict site within Glasgow?s city centre.

Please r.s.v.p ‘SEEDBOM’ mentioning guerrillagardening.org to studio@kabloom.co.uk or simply reply to this topic.
