It was almost year ago that we all got together and started doing some work as a group. To mark that, we are going to meet up at Townhead at 7.  A quick bit of tidying up then we will head to Mono on King Street for a celebratory drink of tea/coffee/ginger beer or just beer, we will be there around 8pm.  We will be the ones with the muddy boots.

Karen Chung and Douglas Peacock, along with the ‘North Kelvinside Green Space Initiative’  have been summoned to appear at the Sheriff Court in Glasgow on 21/08/09 at 12 noon to defend an action that has been brought against them by Glasgow City Council. Townhead Dig 31/01/09 (part 2)

This was our first meet up of the year. We all brought along some plants. Myself, I filled a big bag of 50p plants from the (almost dead) bargain shelf corner of  B&Q (I’ll definitely be going back on a Friday evening to get more for my own garden and for other Guerrilla Gardening projects). I’ll not spend all my Friday evenings at B&Q though :) .

Here are some shots from Saturday (31/01/2009):

As has been said before, please feel free to pop along if your interested, we don’t bite. Also, a big thanks for the donation of summer bulbs left by whomever.

thanks,

Michael

Attack on Townhead!

Taking advantage of the a lovely dry but cold winters day I nipped up to Townhead to plant some hostas, carex and a chocolate vine.

The bad news is that the garden has suffered it’s most serious attack to date, in addition to the dumping of an almost unbelievable amount of rubbish several plants have been stolen. Needless to say this is very frustrating and disappointing. I sincerely hope those responsible have a thoroughly miserable and unpleasant 2009. Still I suppose that we should be grateful that it’s them and not us going through life with such rancid and ugly personalities.

It is also worth remembering that despite this set back most people have been supportive and most of the plants have been left alone. What has been stolen will be replaced as soon as I can get to the garden centre and believe me they’ll get sick of this long before I do.

All in all there’s a lot to look forward to in 2009, more of which in another post.
