Help Wanted.

We next meet up on Saturday 25th June at our Townhead site. There’s lots to do -weeding, sowing, litter removal and general tidying up so we’d love to have you along if you fancy helping out. We have lots in flower just now with plenty of bees and insects coming to see us, so the site is well worth a look.

We meet at 11:30am on the lane that connects Stirling Rd and Parson Street just outside St Mungos Primary School in Townhead.

You don’t need to bring anything though I’d recommend gloves as a minimum. If you have a trowel or fork these come in handy for planting and are worth bringing along. If you have any plants or seeds to spare feel free to bring them along but it isn’t essential.

A big thanks to everyone who helped out today and I hope to see you all next week.

Last February Dig

We meet for the last dig of February at 11:30am on Saturday 26th Feb at the side entrance of St Mungos Primary, Townhead on the lane that connects Stirling Rd to Parson St. As well as admiring all the early bulbs which are just coming into bloom, we’ll be continuing work on the site in preparation for the arrival of spring. If you haven’t been up in a while it’s well worth a look as there are over thirteen thousand spring and summer bulbs of various kinds set to bloom over the coming months.

As ever bring yourself, a small fork or trowel, a pair of gardening gloves and any plants you’d like to add to what will hopefully be a colourful display. If you haven’t been along to the site before or you have any questions, please get in touch via email.

Tidy Up & Planting

The next dig will be on February 12th at 11:30am at Townhead. We’ll be concentrating on tidying up the site by removing litter and leaves. We’ll also be doing a spot of planting, if you’d like to plant something, please bring primroses or hellebores. Other than that, bring yourselves a pair of gardening gloves and a small trowel or fork.

Thanks to all who made it along today, your help and support is very much appreciated. Hope to see you all again soon.

Sunday 11th July @ Townhead

Hi All,

Townhead site: 11:00 – Sunday 11th July

Yes, Sunday, not Saturday!

Map link: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=parson+street+glasgow&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=51.621706,79.804688&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Parson+St,+Glasgow,+Lanarkshire+G4,+United+Kingdom&ll=55.864764,-4.237633&spn=0.002255,0.004871&t=h&z=18

What to bring along, best go here to see what to bring: ‘What to Bring’. I’ve noticed in my local B+Q/Lidl/ALDI that they may not have all these plants but please bring along what you can.

I’d defiantly suggest bring gardening gloves, a bin bag (for any rubbish) and maybe a bottle of water as the site is a bit dry despite the rain of the last few days.

I hope to see some of you along on Sunday morning.

Thanks,

Michael

have a lookt at the Battlefield Community Project facebook group for pics of past events etc…

cheers!

Remember all them bulbs You planted?

Late last year we had our 10,000 bulb challenge. Earlier in spring we had hundreds of daffodils, snowdrops and crocus flowering away. Right now, it is the turn of the Tulips to flower. It is a wonderful splash of colour. A big thank you again if you were involved in any way with the bulb planting.
