Our Townhead site is opposite the Royal Infirmary, just outside St Mungos Primary on the lane that connects Stirling Rd to Parson Street more details here. We’ll be meeting at the Townhead site at 11:30am on Saturday 4th December and hope to see you all before the New Year.
All you need to bring are gloves, a trowel or bulb planter and bulbs if you have any you’d like to plant.

Survey Results
By Jennifer | Filed in glasgow, Glasgow City, Glasgow North, Glasgow South, Glasgow West, guerrilla gardening | No comments yet. Thanks to all those who took part in out recent survey and to those who came along to help out yesterday. The survey threw up some interesting results and there were many helpful comments. I’ll review the comments further before responding as I’d like the opportunity to discuss things with the rest of the group before implementing any changes.
Of those who took part 85.7% are not involved in any form of guerrilla gardening. 42.8% have expressed an interest in becoming involved in the group management committee, 57.2% would be interested in helping the group with fundraising and 85.7% have an interest in urban wildlife/biodiversity. These are all quite encouraging results. As the survey was anonymous I really need those who expressed an interest in getting involved in management/fundraising to get in touch asap. Once I’ve heard from everyone I’d like to set up an initial informal meet to discuss what would be involved in more depth and then anyone still interested can commit to further involvement at this point. My personal email is clairwil123@hotmail.com.
Quick Guerrilla Survey
By Jennifer | Filed in gardening, glasgow, guerrilla gardening | No comments yet.To help us plan for 2011 it would be great if everyone would take a minute or two to answer a few questions regarding guerrilla gardening. It’s quite painless, completely anonymous and would be very helpful to us.

Saturday 13th November-Townhead
By Jennifer | Filed in gardening, gardening dates, glasgow, Glasgow City, guerrilla gardening | No comments yet.We next meet on Saturday 13th November at our Townhead site to carry on planting bulbs and tidying the site up for the winter. We had a great display of spring bulbs last year and it would be fantastic to repeat the success next year. Apart from looking pretty spring bulbs are a good early source of food for bumblebees, hoverflies and other beneficial insects so the more bulbs we get in the better. We’ll
be meeting at 11:30am if you’d like to come along. Just bring yourself any bulbs you’d like to donate (optional) a trowel/bulb planter and some gardening gloves.
We have also received a level one award from the Beautiful Scotland ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ scheme. So a big thanks to everyone who has helped out since we started working on the site. We hope to attain a higher level of award next year and the work we put in between now and August 2011 all contributes to that.
Hope to see you all on Saturday

Saturday 30th October
By Jennifer | Filed in gardening, gardening dates, glasgow, Glasgow City, guerrilla gardening | No comments yet.A big thanks to all who came along today. We got quite a bit planted and made some inroads into clearing the weeds and fallen leaves. As ever with gardening, there is still tons to do. With that in mind we next meet up on
Saturday 30th October, 11am at our Townhead site.
We’ll be planting bulbs, if you’d like to bring some we’re after native bluebells, snowdrops, daffodils, crocuses, amemone blanda, snakeshead fritallaries and grape hyacinths. We shall also be continuing to weed and clear leaves from the borders and any help at all you can offer with these tasks would be greatly appreciated.
If you haven’t been to the site before it’s just along from The Lee pub on the lane that connects Stirling Rd and Parsons Street- right outside St Mungos Primary School.

More Spring Bulb Planting
By Jennifer | Filed in gardening dates, glasgow, Glasgow City, guerrilla gardening | No comments yet.We next meet up at our Townhead site at 11:30am on 23/10/10 to carry on planting spring bulbs and are looking for volunteers to come along and help out.
All you need to bring are some gloves, a trowel or bulb planter and any of the following variety of bulb, daffodils, tulips, grape hyacinths, crocus, anemone ‘white spendour’, snakeshead fritallary, snowdrops, winter aconites or native bluebells. You can also donate cash via paypal or on the day if you’d like to give the bulb fund an additional boost.
As we do not receive any funding we rely on donations of plants and bulbs to fill the site. If you would prefer not assist with this there is plenty of weeding, leaf removal and litter picking to be done and help with these tasks is always greatly appreciated.
We are presently working with an LRA with a view to becoming formally constituted to allow us to apply for funding. This will take a bit of time to come through so in the meantime any help you can offer will be gratefully received. On that note we are also looking for people interested in undertaking some committee/steering group work in order to get things moving. If you can devote at least one evening a month to this and are interested please get in touch to discuss this further.
