There is a fresh gold rush in outback Western Australia, with a local syndicate scooping $63 million.

With two winning tickets, Deborah and Rodney Bottica from the city of Kalgoorlie pocketed half a million.

The win was a saving grace for the travel agents decimated by COVID-19.

“We lost 92 per cent of our business, we had to give back over $600,000 worth of refunds to people,” Ms Bottica said.

“It’s just amazing, this will change our lives incredibly.”

They are among 248 other Kalgoorlie residents who each spent a hundred bucks on a ticket in the syndicate.

Winner Juliana Harvey said she was “still in shock” and “so excited”.

“I’m going to share it between my family,” she said.

“(This is) life-changing for me. I have two jobs that I work just to survive because I have four foster children as well.”

While she is a quarter of a million dollars richer, Ms Harvey is as down to earth as ever.

When 9News asked her where she would go next after her life-changing trip to the news agency, she said she was “just gonna go to Kmart”.

Local newsagent Kevin Parkes said one person who was on the verge of losing her rental home has been put in a position to buy the property.

The syndicate – organised by a local news agency – took out half of the $120 million division one prize.

$63 million was split 250 ways, which equalled $260,000 per person.

‘I’ve started a wish list already’

A Coffs Harbour man he hasn’t shied away from sharing how he’s going to spend his winnings.

The “middle-aged family man” checked his ticket this morning and couldn’t believe his luck, scoring a whopping $60 million.

“I just checked my ticket earlier this morning. I scanned it on the app. I just couldn’t believe it. It came up as division one. Oh mate, it’s huge,” he said.

“It’s like a dream come true.”

The man has shared how he planned to spend his $60 million – with some luxury purchases.

“I’ve started a wish list already,” he said.

“Straight up – a red sports car, a new house, holidays, you name it.”

“I also really want to look after my family.”

Despite being one of Australia’s newest millionaires, the man said he would still show up at work today.

His winning entry was purchased at Coffs News in Coffs Harbour.

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1345 were 6, 15, 9, 27, 32, 28 and 33. The Powerball is 8.

It comes after officials from The Lott said early this morning the NSW multi-million-dollar winning entry was not registered to a player card, leaving officials with no way of contacting them.

Now the man finally checked his ticket and became an overnight millionaire.
